In a league dominated by guard play, the Portland Trail Blazers are lucky to have two of the best in the business. NBA 2K20 has finally given them the credit they deserve.

The Portland Trail Blazers committed to their star duo of guards this summer by passing down just shy of $300 million in extension money to them, on top of their current contracts for the next two seasons. NBA 2K20 seems to agree that was the right move.

The theme of this year’s offseason seems to be superstar pairings sprouting up all over the league, and the Blazers already have one of the best in tow. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will lead the charge both on the court and on the couch — while you’re knee-deep in a 2K session.

Portland’s starting five had their ratings leaked earlier this week, ratings for all other teams’ starting lineups can be found here.

Let’s try to ignore the Zach Collins slander for a moment and focus on the guards. These ratings mean Dame is the second most highly rated point guard and CJ rates out as the sixth best shooting guard in the game. That’s some pretty high praise.

After a dominating performance in the playoffs that helped save the Blazers’ season and uplifted them to the Western Conference Finals, McCollum is now rated above some of the league’s top talent. Devin Booker, Victor Oladipo, DeMar DeRozan and Khris Middleton top off the list of players McCollum has been rated higher than on release.

Everyone knows Dame and CJ are best together though, and the combined backcourt ratings prove this. Take a look at the average rating of the top backcourt duos heading into 2K20:

  1. James Harden and Russell Westbrook — 93 overall
  2. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson — 92 overall
  3. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum — 89.5 overall
  4. Bradley Beal and John Wall — 87.5 overall
  5. Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley — 87.5 overall

As you can see, the Blazers rank pretty highly even when compared to the league’s best. A boost to both player’s ratings should make this the most exciting rendition of 2K yet for Portland fans. Their insane shooting and ability to run a high-tempo offense are just begging to be put to use in a video game  format.

Having a high powered tandem of guards ensures the playing with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2K will be a blast for years to come. Almost as much fun as watching them dominate on the court in real life.
