The NBA is officially a superstar’s league. Find out where the Portland Trail Blazers’ CJ McCollum ends up in the next edition of positional power rankings.

Jordan. Bryant. Iverson. Drexler. Wade. Shooting guard has always been the hot spot for naturally gifted players with an electric offensive game in the NBA. Having a player that can take over at any given moment at the two is essential for a championship squad. Portland Trail Blazers fans saw that for themselves whenever Damian Lillard faltered last year.

This position is always one of the deepest and most competitive in the league, so cracking this list is no small feat. To top the list? That’s a different story, indicating you just might be on track to join the hallowed hall of NBA legends.

Before we get into the top ten power rankings, let’s take a moment to appreciate some of the exciting young talent sprouting up around the league. While they may not be ready to claim their seat at the table just yet, a little more positive momentum next season may have them knocking on the door in no time.

Honorable Mentions: Gary Harris, Buddy Hield, Caris Levert

While each of these men are excellent players that would receive a warm welcome from any contender, they fall just shy of being franchise building blocks. They’re the top of guy you’d prefer to be your third best player on the roster, instead of the franchise leader.

Shooting guard is one of the most hyper-competitive positions in the league, as you’ll soon see. Every player on this list is arguably the best player on their team. It takes something real special to break into the top ten here.
