Rip City Project Roundtable: Evaluating the Portland Trail Blazers 2019 Offseason
Rip City Project hosts a roundtable to reflect on the Portland Trail Blazers’ bold offseason decisions and transactions heading into the 2019-20 season.
Strapped financially and with only one draft pick in the war chest, it was impossible to know just how much Neil Olshey and co. had in store for the Portland Trail Blazers this summer.
The Blazers let a handful of players walk in free agency, brought in a handful more, and even pulled off two shocking trades. Portland’s draft day impressed many and they even followed it up by bringing in some under-the-radar international talent.
In case you missed out, here’s a little breakdown of Portland’s acquisitions this summer. This was a complete roster rehaul unlike anything we’ve seen in recent memory.
- Damian Lillard (extension)
- CJ McCollum (extension)
- Hassan Whiteside (trade)
- Kent Bazemore (trade)
- Nassir Little (draft)
- Rodney Hood (re-signed)
- Mario Hezonja (free agency)
- Anthony Tolliver (free agency)
- Pau Gasol (free agency)
- Jaylen Hoard (two-way contract)
Hundreds of millions of dollars spent later, there’s a lot to dig in here. In truth, it can be awfully difficult to make sense of it all. That’s why Rip City Project is here to get together and hopefully hash things out.
