Let’s move on from one post dominant big man to another. Goga Bitadze is also as a traditional center, but he is so good at scoring inside that he will be selected in the first round.
In addition, he can consistently knock down mid-range jumpers, and there is no reason that he cannot eventually develop three-point range.
Defensively, he will get beat by players on the perimeter and lacks overall speed. Despite not being an exceptional athlete, he does display solid defensive instincts and play recognition.
I mentioned this in a previous mock draft, but Bitadze reminds me a lot of Enes Kanter. The two players share similar strengths and weaknesses.
The Boston Celtics own three first round picks in the 2019 NBA Draft. They should target an international player to potentially draft and stash with one of those selections, and Bitadze is a perfect candidate at 22nd overall.
Whenever the front office decides to sign him to the roster, he can provide offensive production at center in the short term and gives them a potential Al Horford replacement in the long term.
