2019 NBA Mock Draft 5.0
By Jakob Ashlin
The Brooklyn Nets will receive this pick from the Denver Nuggets due to the Kenneth Faried trade.
Cameron Johnson is a newcomer to our first round. Johnson’s stock is on the rise due to his spectacular shooting season at North Carolina. Johnson converted on 45.7% of his threes while attempting a high volume at 5.8 per game.
Although 45.7% was a career-high for Johnson, he has always been a talented shooter. He owns a career three-point percentage of 40.5% across five seasons.
His 6’9″ height and smooth shooting mechanics makes it easy for him to get his shot off against any opponent.
The fact that he is 23 years old and spent five seasons in college will hamper his value, but the All-ACC first team selection should make an excellent NBA player.
DeMarre Carroll and Jared Dudley are both set to hit free agency this summer and at 32 and 33 years old, the Nets could use a prospect to eventually take on a significant role. Johnson could play next season if the team moves on from Carroll or Dudley or he can develop on the bench.
