2019 NBA Mock Draft 4.0
By Jakob Ashlin
The Philadelphia 76ers have the best starting lineup in the Eastern Conference after acquiring Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris.
Unfortunately, they have lost significant depth in the process. The wing rotation, in particular, has become very thin. Robert Covington, Wilson Chandler, and Landry Shamet were all quality players that the 76ers lost in trades.
Luguentz Dort is projected to be a good NBA defender by many analysts due to his athleticism, strength, and 6′ 8.5″ wingspan. Dort’s motor is also noteworthy.
To be perfectly honest, I am not completely sold on Dort. He takes an unsettling amount of threes (5.2 attempts per game) for a 30.7% shooter.
As I previously mentioned, Dort has the tools to be a valuable defender. Physically, he reminds me of Marcus Smart who has developed into a great defender in Boston and has nearly the same height and wingspan as Dort while also packing a lot of strength into his frame.
Offensively, Dort will need to improve his shot selection and shooting ability, but the potential is there.
