The Golden State Warriors still have the best roster in the league, but their depth has significantly diminished over the past couple of seasons.
Tre Jones is ready to contribute from day one. He is a smart basketball player and a good passer. Jones is skilled at running an offense and can get to the basket if he needs to.
However, Jones lacks the upside of other prospects in this range. He lacks athleticism and size. His three-point shooting, in particular, is a major concern. Jones has shot only 23.2% from deep at Duke. In today’s NBA, you need to be a reliable shooter to earn minutes, but the Warriors are already loaded with shooters.
At pick 27, he is a good value for the Warriors and could give them some insurance at the point guard position.
