Grant Williams is a divisive prospect. He is easily one of the best players in all of college basketball and is putting up averages of 19.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks.
Nevertheless, scouts and pundits are concerned about his 6’7″ height and traditional style of play. He plays primarily on the block and will be matched up against much larger players in the NBA.
Even though he is currently only making 30% of his threes this season, Williams’s excellent mid-range game and 83.2% free throw shooting inspire confidence. He also has good athleticism and can run the floor well, so he could definitely become an impact player in the NBA. That is without mentioning his excellent rebounding ability and post game.
He would be a great value for the Oklahoma City Thunder at 25th overall. Nerlens Noel will likely decline his upcoming player option and Williams would give the team some immediate insurance and offer some long term upside.
