The New York Knicks are in an interesting position. They traded away Kristaps Porzingis and clearly believe that they will sign a big name free agent this summer. If that is the case, RJ Barrett makes the most sense for the franchise. Barrett has the highest floor and comes with the least amount of risk among the top four players in the class. Barrett can effect the game in a number of ways. He is a very good passer, can handle the basketball, and always finds a way to score the basketball. He is averaging 22.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game this season. Their depth chart is thin on the wing after losing Tim Hardaway Jr, and Barrettt could playe eithr shooting guard or small forward.
Barrett could fit with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, or whoever the Knicks sign this summer. If the front office strikes out, they still have a blue chip prospect to pair with Dennis Smith Jr, Kevin Knox, and Mitchell Robinson. Either way, the Knicks are covered. If they take Ja Morant and sign Irving, Morant would not be able to impact the game as much as Barrett in that scenario.
