2019 NBA Mock Draft 2.0
By Jakob Ashlin
Keldon Johnson is a very good shooter (40.6% from three) and a complete scorer. It is hard to find any holes in his game. He does not have top-end athleticism, but he would be a good fit in the backcourt with Jrue Holiday.
The Washington Wizards might as well take a swing and they take a huge one here. Doumbouya is the most intriguing prospect in the 2019 draft. There is nothing that he cannot be. He has size (6’9″), speed, ball handling ability, defensive instincts, athleticism, and a nice looking jump shot. He can play on the wing or inside and can guard any position. However, there is no guarantee that he puts it all together. His statistics in France are far from impressive (5.2 points per game). He looked good in international competition averaging 17.8 points per game, but that was also two years ago. Doumbouya could be literally anything and that is either what is going to appeal to teams or scare them off.
Jarrett Culver is exactly the kind of player that the Detroit Pistons need. He can space the floor for Blake Griffin and Andre Drumond and defend opposing wings. The Pistons desperately need prospects and players to help them compete now. Culver would serve both purposes.
The Orlando Magic need a point guard, and Darius Garland is a perfect fit. Garland is not an explosive athlete and stands at only 6’2″, but he more than makes up for it on the basketball court. Garland is a great passer and has elite speed. His three-point shooting really stood out at Vanderbilt this season (47.8%). Defensively, he has the technique and motor to make up for his lack of size.
The Grizzlies are expected to rebuild their roster around Jaren Jackson Jr. Romeo Langford would be a good start. Langford is a very good mid-range scorer. He is comfortable shooting off the dribble and is a great ball handler. He has elite athleticism and makes plays for his teammates. He has struggled shooting the ball from deep at Indiana (21.1%), but that percentage should improve with experience.
