By Jakob Ashlin
- 17.6 PPG, 6 seasons
- 14th in franchise history in points per game (6,715)
- 5th in franchise history in 3-pointers made (735)
CJ McCollum actually had a slow start to his career after being selected 10th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. He only averaged 5.3 points per game in his rookie season while appearing in only 38 games. He saw slightly more court time in his second season and averaged 6.8 points per game.
After the team lost Wesley Matthews in free agency and traded Nicolas Batum to Charlotte in the summer of 2015, McCollum stepped into the starting lineup. He thrived early on and never looked back. McCollum averaged 20.8 points per game and won Most Improved Player.
McCollum had his best season in 2016-17. He recorded 23 points per game and shot 42.1 percent from 3-point range.
He has still averaged over 20 per game in the two seasons since 2016-17. Although his efficiency has dropped this season, he has still been able to score the basketball.
McCollum’s game usually revolves around his 3-point shooting and mid-range game. He is an exceptional ball handler and likes to score on isolations.
Although McCollum may not have as many total career points of some of the other players on this list, his averages and pure scoring ability more than make up for it. He is capable of taking over any game at any time.
