Sidney Wicks was absolutely dominant during his tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers. He was an exceptional scorer and rebounder. In fact, he holds the team record for most rebounds in a game with 27.

The Blazers selected Wicks with the second pick in the 1971 NBA Draft. He came out of the gate firing and averaged 24.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as a rookie. He won Rookie of the Year and made the All-Star team, as well.

Wicks averaged 23.8 points during the next season and he raised his field goal percentage. Wicks also raised his assists numbers to 5.5 assists per game. He was once again selected to the All-Star team. Wicks would average 22.5 and 21.7 points and play in the All-Star game during the next two seasons.

The 1975-76 season would be Wicks’s last with the team. He averaged 19.1 points per game that season. He was then traded to the Boston Celtics during the offseason.

Wicks put up consistently high scoring numbers and was unguardable around the basket during his time with the Blazers.
