Fixing the Portland Trail Blazers with one ludicrous three-team trade
By Doug Patrick
Everybody dreams. Unfortunately for me and a lot of the writers at Rip City Project, our dreams center around how we could improve the Portland Trail Blazers. Here’s one of our crazier ideas.
It’s no secret the Portland Trail Blazers are struggling as of late. Their recent loss to the Dallas Mavericks marks their third straight, and they’ve won only three of their last 10 games. The teams’ defense has been more than frustrating, and the offense – outside of Damian Lillard – can go stagnant.
The current context in Portland sets fans up the perfect groundwork to try their hands at solutions via the ESPN Trade Machine. And a few of us here at Rip City Project (myself, Trenton Corn, and Shade Piper) came up with a scenario in which the Blazers do business with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
The chances this three-team deal actually ever happens is just above zero percent. But I subscribe to the Kevin Garnett principle that “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!” So, with that in mind, here’s a ludicrous trade that could greatly improve the Blazers.
Strap in, watch the clip below, get in the spirit, and let’s have some fun.
The trade:
Get ready to spit out your water… Here’s the trade:
Portland sends away CJ McCollum and a first round pick to the Miami Heat in exchange for Josh Richardson and Kelly Olynyk. They also give up Zach Collins and Anfernee Simons to the Boston Celtics for Jaylen Brown.
Miami sends a second-round pick to the Celtics to aid in Portland’s trade with them in exchange for the Blazer’s first-round pick.
