The Portland Trail Blazers guard Seth Curry left Wednesday’s night game against the Los Angeles Lakers early with a knee injury. His recovery time is considered day-to-day.

The Portland Trail Blazers not only lost to the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night, but they also lost guard Seth Curry to a knee injury.

Curry appeared to have banged legs with LeBron James midway through the second quarter As NBC Sports Northwest points out, he came up limping after this play:

Curry did not return to that game later. Later, his MRI results came back negative, and he is considered day-to-day. Thankfully, it looks like Curry won’t miss much time.

His stats aren’t eye-popping. So far, he’s averaging 4.8 points, 0.9 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per game in 17.1 minutes per game. He is shooting .500 from deep, but that’s only on 2.3 attempts per game.

Still, Curry has the potential to put up much greater numbers with a far bigger impact once he finds his rhythm and place within this team. In Dallas, he was thriving with an increased role and more playing time. In Portland, he is thrust into the second-unit – after a year away from the game due to injury, mind you. He is going to need time to find his groove, and it’s worth it to let him look for it.

But against the Minnesota Timberwolves this Friday though, he is considered questionable-at-best. So, it’s likely that he’ll be watching this one from the sidelines to sure up his knee.

CBS Sports’ suggested that the minutes would, in large part, be soaked up by Nik Stauskas.

But I wonder how excited Head Coach Terry Stotts would be to do this. He seems to be going to him a little less than he was earlier in the year. In late October, Stauskas regularly saw 22ish minutes per night. Now, he is more in the range of 14.

It’s definitely possible though, especially as all of Sauce Castillo’s early brilliance this season has earned him minutes whenever they’re available.

However, I think Stotts could make better use of these minutes with Meyers Leonard. His time has fluctuated throughout the year, but I don’t think the Blazers have given up on him yet.

Leonard is a player that makes me nervous on both sides of the floor. Still, there’s a version that works really nicely in the NBA. And if the Blazers think that exists inside him, the only way to get it out is to give him opportunities.

And he could be a solid weapon against the Wolves, bringing guys like Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng away from the paint so Damain Lillard and CJ McCollum can attack the 29th ranked defense in the league.

We’ll see who Coach ultimately decides. Maybe a guy like Caleb Swanigan gets another opportunity, or the rookies see some minutes. Who knows!

Next. The Blazers should stay far away from Carmelo Anthony. dark

But regardless of what happens, let’s hope Seth Curry has a speedy recovery and gets back on the floor and into rhythm as quickly as possible.
