Leonard for Korver
The first trade looks like this:
Here, the Blazers dump Leonard off to the Cavs as they will have more minutes open to develop him. Kyle Korver then comes in to take over what Leonard was likely going to be asked to do: hit three-pointers and space the floor.
Granted, Korver lacks the size of Leonard. But Leonard didn’t grab many rebounds to begin with and he did little to effect the shots he contested.
Korver will get two boards per game and is a better defender than given credit for. He is a safeguard for Seth Curry or Nik Stauskas. If either of them goes cold, just plug in Korver – he will be able to take some of the pressure off Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Jusuf Nurkic.
You’ll run into an issue during the regular season over how to find minutes for the three snipers, but Curry, Stauskas, and Korver may be able to play together if Aminu and Collins anchor the frontcourt.
During the playoffs, I figure you keep the three rotating around and keep out the one that’s shooting best.
It’s a fantasy world with a trade like this, so why not!
