As we head into the season, I caught up with Torey Jones of YouTube channel and Twitter True Blazer Fan. I asked him questions about himself and the upcoming Portland Trail Blazers season.
I recently caught up with Torey Jones to discuss the upcoming Portland Trail Blazers season.
Torey Jones is the voice behind True Blazer Fan, a YouTube channel and Twitter account that’s dedicated to providing fans with insightful Blazers content. As of now, their YouTube page has 3.8 thousand subscribers with a plethora of videos ranging from player analysis to Monday Mailbags which discuss fans’ questions regarding the team.
Here’s what we talked about:
DP: What makes you a True Blazer Fan?
TJ: I think the word used to describe a “True Blazer Fan” is “passion”. I have a passion for basketball, whether it’s watching, playing, or discussing the game with others. I have a passion for competitiveness as well, which means I’m very emotionally invested in the outcome of each game, for better or worse. I also have a lot of pride for the Portland area, and I love where I’m from. For me, those things make me a True Blazer Fan. However, it can mean completely different things for different people.
In the end, I think a “true fan” can be easily defined by someone who supports their team through thick and thin.
DP: Which Blazer will you be watching most closely this year, and why?
TJ: I’ll be watching Zach Collins a lot this year. I’m a Gonzaga fan, so I’ve been watching him closely since his college days. As I said in a recent video, I think his development is the key to our improvement this year, so I’ll definitely be focusing on his improvement and talking about it throughout the year.
