CJ McCollum spiced up the dull NBA offseason by calling out Kevin Durant’s move to Golden State on Twitter and starting a brief fight between the two.

Kevin Durant‘s most recent social media antics didn’t involve a burner account or confronting kids. This time, he went after CJ McCollum.

It all started last week when McCollum hosted the two-time champion on his podcast, “Pull Up.” During the podcast, Durant brought up McCollum not liking DeMarcus Cousins‘ decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors.

The Blazers reportedly nearly acquired Cousins in a sign-and-trade, but he and Jusuf Nurkic sharing the same agency blocked the deal.

During CJ’s explanation of why he didn’t like Cousins’ decision, Durant interrupted and said, “You know, you know you guys aren’t going to win a championship.”

The sound clip of this two-minute debate started circulating Twitter the following Wednesday. Things escalated between the two players when CJ McCollum responded to a tweet with this.

30 minutes later, Durant responded by summarizing what he did to the Oklahoma City Thunder two offseasons ago and included some colorful language to diss CJ.

Past this response, they didn’t interact anymore on Twitter. However, the conversation might have continued off social media to clear things up.

CJ McCollum’s history

This isn’t the first time CJ McCollum has butt heads with people on Twitter about Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors. During and after Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals, McCollum both gave Durant props for his outstanding performance and slandered his move to the Bay in 2016.

He went on to say how Warriors fans won’t ever accept Durant like they do the other players – when the offense doesn’t work, it’s KD’s fault. And when the fans get cheering, it’s not as loud for KD.

To end the conflict on Twitter (although talks may have resumed elsewhere), CJ McCollum posted tweeted this.

Sly way to call Durant a snake, CJ. I guess the petty tweet is better than a direct insult, though. He could have used the Spiderman pointing at himself meme when KD called him a snake.

And to officially end the conflict, Durant said this: “This is not East coast, West coast beef. Bro, CJ…I will go have some wine with him in New York when he get back from China and take a picture if you all don’t believe me.”
