A Smaller Court

An NBA court is 94 feet by 50 feet. I say shrink it a bit. Not so much that it stifles the motion that makes the game so beautiful to watch. But just enough to eliminate some of that dead space near center court, which rarely comes into play in the course of a game.

This is admittedly one of the goofier and most random of all my suggestions. But I like the idea of changing things up just to see what happens to the game itself. It might actually speed it up a bit.

It’s not like the NBA’s court length is some sort of gold standard. Under FIBA rules, for example, the court is smaller.

A smaller court would also make the next two suggestions seem less radical.

(This next one is a good one.)

(They should implement it right away.)
