Gerald Green, SG, Houston Rockets

Gerald Green is another veteran target the Blazers could be interested in this offseason. A 6-foot-7, 205-pound shooting guard/small forward, Green has 10 years of professional experience.

Playing in 41 games (two starts) for the Rockets last season, Green averaged 12.1 points and 3.2 assists in 22.7 minutes played per game. And he shot efficiently from both the three-point line (36.9 percent) and the free-throw line (85 percent). He shot poorly from the rest of the field though, hitting just 40.7 percent of his field goal attempts.

Green has played extensively at the shooting guard and small forward position and could provide a valuable rotational piece for the Blazers. He played last year on a one-year, $1.38 million dollar contract for the Rockets.

Green’s playing time was limited by the Rockets’ All-Star backcourt of James Harden and Chris Paul — so perhaps he would like a change of scenery. He would be a useful piece for Portland, bolstering the front court while providing a three-point shooting guard for the Blazers’ three-guard set.

Portland will most likely focus on their front court in this season’s free agency period. There are a ton of good, bargain names that could provide the boost this team needs to compete with the top teams in the West.
