On Friday, Terry Stotts won his 250th game as the Trail Blazers head coach. He’s moving up the ladder of all-time winningest Portland coaches. And Rip City is lucky to have him.

The Portland Trail Blazers’ 107-93 victory Friday over the Dallas Mavericks was noteworthy for several reasons.

First, it meant that Portland (27-22; seventh in the Western Conference) was five games over .500 for the first time since the Monday after Thanksgiving, when they were 13-8. (At which point the Trail Blazers proceeded to lose five straight. Hashtag frowny face.)

Second, it secured a winning record for the month of January. (A nice turnaround from the team’s moribund 5-8 record in December.)

Third, it meant that the Trail Blazers had won five of their last six and were setting themselves up nicely for what’s become a Portland tradition: a late-season surge.

And last, but absolutely not least, it meant that Terry Stotts had earned victory No. 250 as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Let’s take a deeper look at the head ball coach.
