The fourth and final Nike uniform installment for the Blazers is here, and it looks a lot better than the renders.

As we approach the halfway point of the 2017-18 NBA season, teams are still unveiling new uniforms. This is because during the offseason, the league flipped from Adidas to Nike for uniform partnership.

Many fans have questioned Nike’s decision making, and it hasn’t been an easy road for the massive company. Uniforms have ripped during live games, some color combinations confuse fans, and there were no Christmas Day jerseys.

However, overall, Nike has done a decent job with uniforms.

After releasing three new uniforms for each team to begin the season, the fourth and final uniform edition for the 2017-18 season has been released for 26 teams.

After releasing the Association (Home), Icon (Away), and Classic (Alternate) uniforms for all 30 NBA teams, the City Edition uniforms are here!

This is where the fun really starts for Nike and the fans.

Each design is very unique and extremely driven towards the culture of each city. “The Land” is displayed across the front of the jerseys for Cleveland, a nickname that has risen in popularity recently. “District of Columbia” is bold and in front for the Wizards.

For the Blazers, Nike didn’t miss the mark at all. They are based in the same state, so there was a lot of room for disappointment.

The City Edition Uniforms for the Blazers hit stores yesterday before being officially announced today.

Rip City returns

“Rip City,” the alternate name for this wonderful city and the fan base, has returned on the team’s jersey. It had been featured on the front of the belt line for the shorts on the other uniforms. The former Rip City jerseys were fan favorites, even the sleeved versions.

Also on the uniform is a very interesting, plaid-like background. It’s subtle, but noticeable enough to add a nice touch. The plaid represents the lumberjack and hipster vibe of the city, encompassing the Pacific Northwest as a whole with a nod to the region’s great nature.

The black uniforms become lighter because of that, but Nike was still able to highlight the beautiful Rip City red on both the jerseys and shorts.

To tie it all together, the Portland City Flag is front and center on the shorts. Where “Rip City” is usually displayed, the simplistic yet captivating flag of Portland makes its first appearance on a Blazers uniform.

Next: Blazers can win first home game in over a month vs. 76ers

The red arcs may be my least favorite design choice, as looking at the jersey for too long makes them look G-League-ish. But, that will for sure change, as these uniforms have been met with praise from fans, and the ones against them will soon warm up to these City Edition beauties.

The Blazers will play in these uniforms for the first time against the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 31. You can get a jersey of your own now online either via the NBA store or Nike.com.
