Conrad Burry of SportsLogos.net has concept art suggesting that Blazers plaid uniforms will be released this year.
Dr. Jack Ramsay loved plaid. But he probably never thought he’d see Portland Trail Blazers plaid uniforms.
Ramsay was the Blazers’ longtime coach from 1976 through 1986, leading the Blazers to the NBA title in 1977.
On the court, Ramsay was an eye-catching figure, a fit 50-something with a shiny bald head and suits that had the unmistakable criss-cross of plaid.
The Blazers even wore a “Dr. Jack.” plaid patch on their jerseys to honor Ramsay when he passed away in 2014.
New Blazers plaid uniforms leaked?
But if these new Blazers plaid uniform concepts are accurate, the team is taking their love of plaid to new levels.
SportsLogos.net, a site that often has the scoop on unreleased uniforms, has new jersey concepts for 11 of the NBA’s 30 teams. These are mockups of the “City” edition of NBA uniforms that all teams will release later this year.
Author Conrad Burry had this to say about the Blazers plaid jersey mockup:
"Portland Trail Blazers – uniform colour and pattern, detail colors & wordmark correct (though colouring of wordmark and # may be different), but collar / arm design & side design unknown"
In short, that means the uniforms will probably look similar to, but not exactly like, his concept art.
Without further delay, the Blazers plaid jersey mockup (click here for direct link to jersey mockup):
It’s worth noting that the plaid pattern in this mockup is pretty subtle. They could have gone with a bolder red plaid, or even a white plaid with red stripes.
It also looks like the Blazers’ “Rip City” jerseys, fan favorites for years (even when they had sleeves), will be back.
If this concept art is close to the real thing, the Blazers will be rocking plaid, albeit quietly, in the 2017-18 season.
