The Portland Trail Blazers’ offseason moves saw Allen Crabbe, Andrew Nicholson, Justin Jackson and Harry Giles end up on different teams.
Four former or could-be Blazers are now on new teams: Allen Crabbe, Andrew Nicholson, Justin Jackson and Harry Giles.
Let’s take a look at the former players and how they are doing on their new teams.
Blazers trade Allen Crabbe to the Brooklyn Nets for Andrew Nicholson.
The Blazers quickly cut Andrew Nicholson to clear some cap space. He later signed with the Guangdong Tigers of China.
Nicholson and his team played their first game this Sunday, Oct. 29th. They won by a score of 114-96.
Nicholson started the game and played about 23 minutes, putting up 28 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one steal.
It’s a very different game in China but Nicholson seems to be fitting in nicely.
Allen Crabbe has played six games for the Brooklyn Nets.
He is averaging 11 points, 1.5 assists, 3.2 rebounds, shooting 38% from the field and 37% from the three point line. He started two games so far and plays about 24 minutes per contest.
Crabbe’s best game so far was 20 points, five rebounds, one steal and shot 57% from three in a win against the Hawks.
The former Blazer has been a nice addition to the Nets and still has a long season to figure out his new team. He plays solid minutes for Brooklyn and has the opportunity to put up shots every night.
Crabbe will make his first trip back to the Moda Center on Mar. 23rd.
Blazers trade picks on draft night with the Sacramento Kings to select Zach Collins of Gonzaga.
The 15th pick was Justin Jackson out of North Carolina.
The 20th pick was Harry Giles out of Duke.
Harry Giles came with caution signs that everyone knew of. He experienced major knee issues in the past and recently had another knee surgery. The Kings plan to bring him back slowly.
The knee surgery has kept him off the court and he may be out the whole season. The former five-star recruit is loaded with potential though.
If he returns healthy and stays that way, Giles could make a huge impact in Sacramento.
Justin Jackson has started all five games he’s played for the Kings.
He is averaging 5.8 points,1.8 rebounds, 50% from the field and 36% from the three-point line while playing about 17 minutes per game. He scored 10 points and had one rebound in a loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Jackson is playing meaningful minutes and is getting a chance to develop and learn the NBA with a young team. He also learns from veterans like Zach Randolph and Vince Carter.
Blazers fan will see what they traded when the Sacramento Kings come to town on Nov. 18th.
It’s still very early, so keep an eye on these guys to better know if the Blazers made the right offseason moves.
