Blazers Media Day provided some fun, intriguing answers from the whole Blazer crew.

Ahead of training camp starting Tuesday, Blazers Media Day kicked off the start of the new year.

Finally.

Players signed memorabilia, took pictures in their new uniforms and performed other team-related activities.

One of those activities – the biggest one of media day – is the press conference.

Blazers president Chris McGowan, president of basketball operations Neil Olshey and head coach Terry Stotts, along with most of the players, spoke with the media.

Here are some things that caught my eye during the press conferences:

Olshey talks G-League

Among talk of a Jusuf Nurkić extension (he declined to comment) and Meyers Leonard, Olshey also touched on the subject of a Portland G-League affiliate.

With C.J. Wilcox signing a two-way deal this offseason, he is able to spend time with both a G-League team and the Blazers. He’s one of a possible two two-way contracts the Blazers may use.

If two-way contracts prove to be successful in the league this year, and the Blazers don’t have an affiliate in place by season’s end, I’d be willing to bet talks ramp up.

Aminu will play more small forward

According to coach Stotts, Al-Farouq Aminu will most likely suit up at small forward more. Given the gaggle of frontcourt players on the roster, this makes sense.

It’s worth noting Aminu played 95 percent of his minutes at power forward last season, per Basketball-Reference’s estimate.

This change came after 56 percent at small forward the previous year with Portland.

With Noah Vonleh out, suitors like Ed Davis and Caleb Swanigan will be after that starting four spot. Meyers could set up there as well.

Add Vonleh back into the mix, and things get even tighter. We’ll see what Aminu at the three spot holds for Portland this season.
