With the 2017-18 season just around the corner, the Blazers announced Friday they have re-signed radio play-by-play voice Brian Wheeler to a multi-year contract extension.

Brian Wheeler is back, as the Blazers announced an extension for their radio voice, per a release.

This year marks Wheeler’s 20th season behind the microphone. He has been providing a familiar voice for Blazer radio listeners.

Over the years, he has been solo in the booth, but that is no longer.

It was announced that Michael Holton will be joining Wheeler in the box as the color commentator for all home games.

The latter shared some thoughts on his new deal:

"I’m appreciative of the organization’s continued belief in my talent as a broadcaster, and look forward to more years of bringing our fans along this exciting journey with our Trail Blazers."

Wheels and Holt

Michael Holton has served the team as a player and currently as a television analyst.

He played a total of six seasons in the NBA.  This includes teams such as the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets.

2017-18 marks Holton’s 12th season as a broadcaster with the Blazers. He has been involved during this timespan as a radio or in-studio analyst.

The upcoming season features Wheeler and Holton combining for home games, while Kevin Calabro and Lamar Hurd return as the television commentators.

Both tandems will offer Blazer fans exciting and insightful commentary for 2017-18. So no matter how you access the game, you’ll be receiving a great presentation night in, night out.

Meanwhile, the Blazers are back in Portland with media day and training camp coming.
