C.J. McCollum, a journalism major now NBA Star, penned a thoughtful letter to the fans of Portland, hoping it can inspire the Blazers to mount a near insurmountable comeback.

For all of us fans in Rip City, the question of “Why do you love the Blazers?” may seem like an easy answer. Everyone has their reasons, but the fact that it is the Pacific Northwest’s only basketball team has made the franchise a staple in many homes.

One aspect that has been true over the years, has been Rip City’s love for their players. Most of their stars, even LaMarcus Aldridge when he donned the pin wheel, were the biggest celebrities of the city.

Today in The Player’s Tribune, 3J himself penned a letter to Portland thanking them for being the best fans in the NBA.

It’s a very thoughtful letter, including his appreciation that the fans have never doubted the team. Even with this tough regular season, selling out every game and fans getting to the arena an hour before tip-off has made an impact on McCollum.

Besides a basic thank you to the fans, McCollum is also asking for us to step up. He wants us to inspire the team just like we have done all season with our energy and enthusiasm to help them out of hole they find themselves in. Down 2-0 to arguably the most star-stacked team in NBA history, he believes Rip City could ignite another comeback that has come to define this current roster.

Sure it looks bleak, and of course the odds are against the Blazers. But no matter what happens, Blazers announcer Lamar Hurd summed up all our feelings with his re-tweet.

Bring em on!
