Point Guard

Best Option: Terry Porter

Best Season as a Trail Blazer: 1990-91 – 17.0 PPG / 8.0 APG / .415 3P%

Porter sits in the second slot on the all time three pointers made (773) list for the Trail Blazers, at least for another day (Lillard tied his mark against the Raptors). It is important to note that Porter did the majority of his damage from deep in an era when three point shooting wasn’t the norm. Imagine him getting the green light in today’s game? The results would be deadly.

Porter, much like Lillard, was coupled with a scoring force in the backcourt (Clyde Drexler). Porter effectively balanced getting his own looks as well as finding Drexler on the offensive end. His dependability is also comparable to Lillard’s, as Porter only played under 75 games one time in his tenure with Portland.

Honorable Mention: Damon Stoudamire

Best Season as a Trail Blazer: 1999-00 – 12.5 PPG / 5.2 APG / .377 3P%

Stoudamire finds himself on two important all time lists for the Trail Blazers: total assists (3018) and three point field goals made (717). His shooting ability and ball distribution would align to make him a effective force in Terry Stotts’ offense. Much like Lillard, he was capable of huge scoring outbursts. Until recently, Stoudamire was in an exclusive 50 point club in Trail Blazers history.
