Veteran Role Players
The Trail Blazers have two players that could be coveted by playoff contenders. Gerald Henderson and Chris Kaman still have a place in this league. Both players have enough miles under them to insure that potential buyers know what they’re getting.
Kaman rumors are already circulating. Earlier this week it was rumored he could be available to teams looking for a big man to “provide a lift off the bench” (full story at SheridanHoops.com). It seems that Kaman has found a comfortable role as a mentor, but a contender could still call upon him to shore up a thin front court.
Henderson finds himself in a log jam on the wing. It appears he has fully recovered from offseason hip surgery. If he has few more performances like his 19 point explosion against the Pelicans it won’t be long before teams will start inquiring about his services. Henderson also offers a low risk investment, as he only has one year left on his contract.
Both players should garner interest closer to the trade deadline. Teams will most likely view Kaman as a buy-out candidate, which could hurt his trade value. Asset Grade: B
