Trail Blazers Draft Picks: Top Ten
10.) Sidney Wicks
Pick: #2 1971 NBA Draft
The 6’8″ post player found instant success with the Trail Blazers. Wicks walked away with the Rookie of the Year honors after the 1971-72 season. He played in four straight All Star Games in his time with Portland. Wicks ranks 10th in both total points and assists for the Trail Blazers. His 22.3 PPG also ranks 2nd all time for any player that has worn red and black.
Despite his stature, Wicks was a force in his five years in Portland. He was shipped to Boston the season before the Trail Blazers won the title, but his legacy is not forgotten. Wicks is most often remembered for his role on the in-between teams at UCLA (as shown in the video above). He was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.
