Wesley Matthews’ injury had derailed the 2nd half of the season and Memphis thoroughly dominated the first two games of the series. LaMarcus Aldridge was rumored to already be filming a “Celebrity House Hunters” in San Antonio for HGTV (Unconfirmed). As Blazer fan morale dipped into a mild depression during last year’s playoffs, a new hope emerged.
C.J. McCollum shot 61% from the floor (28-46) over the final three games of the series including his then career high 33 points in game 5. The playoff series clearly gave McCollum confidence heading into his starting role this season. McCollum scored 37 in the season opener against New Orleans and has not looked back since.
