Portland Trail Blazers sports families

The Portland Trail Blazers are chock-full of gifted players whose family’s are chock-full of gifted athletes. We tend to think about NBA stars as solitary entities, forgetting that many of them grew up with the game, or other sporting presence, in their very household. Today, with the off-season in full swing, we take note of the people that have inspired, and have been inspired by, our Trail Blazers. You may be surprised at just how many family figures have had their own journey through the sports world.

- Houston Lillard (older brother): Quarterback for the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League. Presently recovering from a broken leg.
- LaNae Lillard (younger sister): Forward for the Lakeridge Pacers varsity basketball team.

- Krystal Frazier (older sister): Guard on the Rice University basketball team before tearing her Achilles in 2006, as her brother would six years later.

- Paul Pressey (father): Guard-forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, 1982-90. Later played for the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.
- Elizabeth Pressey (mother): Played college basketball for the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes.
- Matthew Pressey (older brother): Most recently played as a guard for the Plymouth Raiders in the United Kingdom. Was Phil’s teammate at Missouri.
- Angela Pressey (older sister): Former All-American volleyball player for the California Golden Bears.

- Gerald Henderson Sr. (father): Played point guard for the Boston Celtics, Seattle Supersonics, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, and Houston Rockets over the course of 13 seasons; 1979-1992.

- Leslie Plumlee (mother): Played college basketball at Purdue. Holds Boilermaker women’s basketball record for most rebounds in a single game (25).
