The Portland Trail Blazers and Daimler Trucks have agreed to a five year corporate partnership. Although monetary terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, it is believed that this sponsorship is the most lucrative the Trail Blazers have inked since partnering with Moda Health last year. Yet, Daimler and the Trail Blazers are not the only ones to benefit.
With the announcement of the “Threes of Trees” campaign (effective opening night), the two have formed a joint partnership with Friends of Trees in order to restore the Sandy River Delta. For each three point shot that the Trail Blazers make this season, three trees will be planted in hopes of restoring the watershed that has been plagued by invasive plants in recent years.
This partnership reflects the environmental values of the Portland Trail Blazers and much of the community. The Trail Blazers sank a franchise best 770 threes last season (the equivalent of 2,310 trees), and the Sandy River Delta spans over 1,000 acres, so this may ultimately amount to a drop in the bucket, but the increase in visibility is a good start.
