The New Orleans Pelicans are plotting something big centered around Eric Gordon. Of course, it would have to be big since Gordon is owed $15 million per season through 2016. Whether or not the Pelicans receive any interest for their pseudo-star is up to rival executives. Though the Phoenix Suns have found a diamond in the rough with presently injured shooting guard Eric Bledsoe, it is worth noting that Eric Gordon agreed to a max contract with them in 2012 before New Orleans matched.

The Pelicans already possess a suitable replacement in Tyreke Evans (acquired in the three-way trade that brought Robin Lopez to the Trail Blazers), so dumping his albatross contract has very little downside for them.  However; they will be hard-pressed to find a trade partner that is willing to overlook his many health concerns. Don’t be surprised if Gordon stays put, but steel yourself for a potential blockbuster, as the Pelicans are shopping him with an unmatched sense of urgency.
