7:39: KG finally awakens and takes Pau to the basket. Unfortunately he settles on a fadeaway runner…but it’s a baby step. On the other end Odom turns it over (WHAT A SHOCKER!) and then Rondo sprains his ankle.
7:41: I wonder why Eddie freakin’ House has not played more. He can shoot. He would end the ‘Kobe being a rover’ defense.
7:42: Weird, ask and I shall receive. Enter Eddie House…and he misses a jumper.
7:43: Pierce’s knee is bothering him. He can’t even get by Radmonovic. By the way if Kobe keeps guarding House like that the C’s could win. House can light it up.
7:45: Classic NBA continuation there for Kendrick Perkins. Weird, me and JVG thought the same thing after he missed the free throw “Ball Don’t Lie”. If Rasheed Wallace was watching (which if I was the betting type, I would bet a couple hundred he’s not) he would have thrown something.
7:49: Looking at the Celtics…it would seem like they were down by 20. They are down by 6. KG BLOWS BY PAU, gets fouled and misses a dunk. How many dunks as he missed this finals? Like 4? He’s so shocked that he could get an easy bucket or get to the foul line that he missed the first free throw. Made the second.
7:53: Eddie House three-ball to cut the lead to two. Here is the thing about Eddie House…he’s like Sam Cassell in that he’ll shoot and shoot and shoot, except he won’t kill you with his shooting like a fast break fadeaway. Which is exactly why he should have been playing. Did I mention he dropped 50+ at ASU.
7:54: Oh lord, KG has got the memo and he is in the post. And he scored. Tie game. Oh crap.
7:54: KG posts up, forces a double team, Pierce penetrates and kicks it to KG. Who is now feeling it and makes an open shot. Boston’s up 2. KG posting up = good things.
7:55: Kobe misses another free throw. Is it the finger?
7:56: Ray Ray with a three, the Celtics showing life, chest-bumping, celebrating, not looking dead and they are *gasp* winning. 15-3 run. I bet Kobe is pissed. I don’t do +/- mainly because I don’t understand how it’s calculated…but I’d have to say Eddie House’s has to be +12128129 and Sam Cassell -193.
7:58: Over/under on the number of cuss words that came out of Kobe’s mouth during that timeout: no less than 17. Chances that Kobe murders Pau and Lamar with his bare hands if they lose this game…very high.
8:00: Lamar Odom scores! Did not know he could still do that…I’m not even sure he knew he could still do that.
8:02: Boston fans should not be cheering that KG jumper over Pau. They shouldn’t. They should be crying that he’s not posting up anymore.
8:05: KG returned to the post but decided to be stubborn and go with his version of Hakeem’s ‘Dream Shake’. Hakeem got layups. KG shakes himself out of a shot and always shoots a contest fadeaway jumper when he does it. I vote Hakeem slaps KG in the face.
8:06: Boston’s up 3 late in the third…as much as I want to argue that the Lakers need Odom and Pau (which they do), they still have Kobe. Also…that show ‘Wipeout’…isn’t that just a blatant rip-off of that show on Spike TV…Most Extreme Elimination Challenge? That show rocked.
8:07: Jeff Van Gundy’s attempt at pop culture just made me cringe times 10. I actually changed the channel.
8:08: Pau Gasol scores!! And screams!! He’s back!!! The nasty Euro is back!
(Ok maybe not but still you get the point.)
8:09: 62-60 Boston at the end of three. Boston has got to extend the lead in the first five minutes, because if it’s a one possession lead late…Mamba will come out tonight and the Lakers will win. Remember I said that.
8:11: Random sidenote…I think being a meterologist in Portland would be the easiest job ever. 10 out of 12 months you are safe predicting rain, clouds and a random semi cold number. You don’t even need a high school diploma. All you need to do is that, the occasional talk of snow and ice and making people think the sun will pop out every now and then. That’s it.
8:13: Vujacic is saving the day. Huge three….but then Ray Allen responds so they wash each other out.
8:14: I applaud JVG on calling Kobe out for just dying on a screen and calling for help. Odom should have shot him a glare. Come on Kobe, you can’t be MJ like and call for help.
8:15: By the way, Eddie House’s misses are proof why Doc probably should have given him a few minutes here and there so he’d be at his best now. Just saying.
8:18: Odom with another foul, this one a charge and he is back on the bench. He might as well retire at the end of this series because he’s quickly entering Cliff Robinson territory.
8:19: Kobe misses another free throw..and follows it up with a terrible, girly, “I want to kick the ball and be mad but I don’t want to so I’m going to halfway do the motion”
8:20: As good as Paul Pierce played in the first two games, he’s been the opposite tonight. Also..Farmar gets a vote on the all-unlikeable team. No one remembers him at UCLA?
8:25: This game is underrated ugly.
8:26: Return of Rondo….I don’t know. Is this really a good move? He wasn’t particularly effective when he was in, he’s slightly hurt. I don’t know. This could be the downfall.
8:28: Seriously…Rondo out there, Kobe can double KG on the two times he decides he wants to post up.
8:29: Let’s see what Rondo has done since being out there. Messed up the flow of the offense. Allowed everyone to get double team. Got beat by Walton on penetration which lead to an open three from Kobe. Fouled Derek Fisher. Good job Doc.
8:37: Doc goes back to Eddie House…now that they are down by 7.
8:40: After Kobe’s 19th flailing of his arms on the night, this time after being called for a legit foul, I am banning all talk of him and MJ in the same sentence.
8:45: Pau’s series in a nutshell = him throwing the ball over the backboard.
8:46: KG returns to the post, doesn’t get doubled and scores. Uh-oh. Mamba time?
8:46: Machine time! Vujacic with a Robert Horry-esque three-ball from the corner. Pierce misses on his drive, Fisher gets fouled. Lakers up 5 with 1:33 left.
8:50: It’s clearly Mamba Time. Jackson and JVG are arguing that they should double. There’s nothing you can do when it’s Mamba Time.
