For all those silly people who had labled the Blazers as in the playoffs for sure…raise those antennas up. Open those stubborn eyes and see that we’re not quite there yet. Last night was a game the Blazers should have won. T-Mac was hobbled, Yao was ineffective thanks to foul trouble, everyone else was struggling. Except we went cold on offense. That’s ok, it happens. But what concerns me is how we let Luis Scola and Carl Landry come in and beat us. Scola had 11 points, 10 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive rebounds. Landry had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive rebounds. Between them they created 9 extra possessions for the Rockets. Basketball 101 says you can’t give teams extra shots at the basket because more times than not they’ll end up scoring. A big concern that keeps sticking out like a sore thumb is rebounding. Last night it showed up..but if you think back this whole ‘giving up offensive rebounds’ thing has come up in a few games.
- Don’t cry for him Argentina: the Warriors are interested in Chris Webber. Why exactly I’m not sure but apparently they are. I mean why would you want to risk chemistry issues. Webber has been known to pout when he doesn’t get enough touches and let it be known. Add to the fact that he and Nelson aren’t exactly buddy-buddy and you have a slight recipe for disaster. AND it’s not like he is going to make them that much better. I don’t know about you but I don’t think Chris Webber is the answer to Golden State’s big man dilemnna, I’d rather they play Brandan Wright. And I’m not the only who thinks Golden State signing Webber would be insanity.
- Read this Rod Benson blog post. Solely based on the fact that the man compares the player-agent relationship to not only the old TV show Singled Out BUT Superbad as well. And they both make sense. Somewhere Paul Shirley may be wiping away a tear.
- Gerald Green wants a trade. You know, normally I wouldn’t get on anyone for wanting to get out of Minnesota…but when you’re not getting much playing time in Minnesota something is up. He needs to step his basketball IQ up big-time, he reminds me of Qyntel Woods on the court. All the jokes aside…Qyntel could play when he wanted to. He was way better than Outlaw and would show those flashes of brillance…but without the bball IQ look what happened. Not to mention he was dumb off the court but you know what I mean. Those are two guys who could have really benefited from a year in college.
- By the way…I might have to apologize to Sebastian Telfair if he keeps playing halfway decent here. I’ve seen flashes of that guy from the documentary. Might.
- We’re about a month away from that time when teams definitely start falling out of playoff contention. Say what you want but the All-Star break is a nice barometer of whether your team is going to the show or not.
- Someone tell the Jazz they are unlikeable. There is a reason they haven’t had a player voted in since I was in the 5th grade.
- Everyone wants an iRoy. Unfortunately only the undeserving media got them. Hang in their Blazer fans. And yes, I said undeserving because we didn’t get one.
- OJ Mayo was ineligible for all of 10 minutes. Ya know he probably would’ve have been ok if he wasn’t damn near courtside. With a girl. Pretty much flaunting that ‘I’m OJ friggin Mayo’. Can’t blame the guy, although why he hasn’t declared himself as the new Juice is beyond me. Also I love when universities put out statement’s from athletes…because it’s 99 percent certain that they said only two of the words in it.
- Why has no one picked up Earl Boykins?
- How LeBron didn’t get that last shot last night was hilarious. Only Mike Brown would draw up a play that could possibly end up with LeBron not getting the ball. If I coached Cleveland, you could make fun of me all you wanted but the end of the game play would have one option. Get it to LeBron.
