  • Jermaine O’Neal is back in Indy and ‘happy’. I don’t care how many times I read that sentence or the article, in two weeks Jermaine will break something in his home after Jamaal Tinsley dribbles off his foot for the umpteenth time.
  • Jason Kapono wants to prove that he isn’t a one-diminsional player in Toronto. Newsflash. All you have to do in Toronto is shoot.
  • Big Ben gets to wear his headband this year. This will give the people of Chicago something to talk about for 5 to 10 minutes before they think about the Bears.
  • And it took Spencer Hawes one day to twist his knee. Oh. Crap.
  • Sekou Smith of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was feeling pretty ballsy. In his piece on the Hawks ‘poo-poo platter’ at PG (my words, not his) he states the following;
  • “A room full of Hollywood writers couldn’t have come up with a better plot line than what will play out over the next three weeks as the Hawks try to find a starting point guard.

    There’s the high priced veteran returning from an injury-plagued season who’s aiming to reclaim his job: Speedy Claxton.

    The charismatic and reliable backup who always seems to make clutch plays when healthy: Tyronn Lue.

    Then there’s the hotshot rookie with the young legs and the turbo-charged skills: Acie Law IV.

    Don’t forget about the rugged journeyman who always seems to save a team in need: Anthony Johnson.

    And lest we forget about the wild card, and oft-times wild child, whose skills suit the Hawks preferred style of play: Salim Stoudamire.”

    Unbelievable. I’m still in shock that I really just read that. First off, every movie ever is better than the plotline of who is going to start for the Hawks. Secondly..ah forget it.

  • Everything is well and some in Boston. Looks like James Posey and the second unit have been getting the job done on D in practice. Everyone talks so badly about Doc Rivers but he did lead a crappy Magic team to .500 back in the day and he can’t mess this up. Three superstars as opposed to one and a second unit full of experienced guys willing to do the dirty work. Watch out for the C’s.
  • Now this is a little much. I’m a fan of the Bobcats and think they have a good chance to make the playoffs…but come on guys. Winning the division? Even worse than that is they think the Magic, not the Heat or the Wizards are the team to beat. You’re smarter than that Gerald. Your goal should be to make the playoffs with a smile on your face.
  • I just love the title ‘Cavaliers open camp with lack of swagger’. That’s what happens when you make no move and actually could lose two of your key players.
  • And ladies and gentlemen, the annual ‘Shaq is ready’ article. They always sound so good too.
  • So Knicks fans..Isiah is being found guilty, Marbury has found Jesus and neither Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph are in shape. Poop your pants immediately.
  • I was going to read and give you my thoughts about the Washington Wizards but at the end of the day their team is Gilbert, Caron and Antawn Jamison. The rest…meh doesn’t really matter.

  • Remember the whole ‘teams thinking positive’ mantra I’ve been talking about…even the Clippers are trying it out. Interesting they are going to start Tim Thomas at power forward. I don’t think they are going to be as bad as people think, they have the people who can step up and ease the pain. A little.
  • And last but not least…the Blazers…peaceful at last. It feels good to support a team that isn’t getting slaughtered by the people who report on them at least.
