Not So Magical

First, let me say I am so bleeping tired of having to look at OJ Mayo, Kevin Love and Eric Gordon on the FRONT PAGE of ESPN’s NBA page. That is unbelievable on so many levels. One, they are NOT in the league. At most they won’t be in the league for a whole year. And none of them have even played a single COLLEGE basketball game. This is what I’m talking about with the hype machine. You can’t look forward to the 08′ draft class a whole year ahead, it is almost impossible. I mean for pete’s sake, Kevin Love wasn’t even the best player in the state of OREGON this year. A state where if you are 6’2 you are more than likely going to be a center, trust me I would know. It is just ridiculous and pointless, pretty much like ESPN’s First Take.

Now onto you Coup…you are just trying to get my wrath aren’t you? First you try and diss Wimbledon, now you say this is a good move. Unbelievable. How you can like this move and like next to no aspects of the Seattle/Boston trade is a bit beyond me. This was a bad move by both Rashard Lewis and the Orlando Magic. I feel bad for Orlando Magic fans…they are run by complete morons. First off, what is Rashard Lewis thinking? There are only two reasons I can think that he would take this deal.

  1. The max money
  2. Being the primary option

Those are the only two reasons I could understand him going to Orlando. But when you think about it…there should only be two things that a free agent looks at. A team that can pay and a team that is good. Orlando had the money, but they are far from good. They have no style. They aren’t fast-paced, they aren’t a defensive team…they are just an average team with no identity. That was half of the problem with the Blazers last year, we had no idea what we wanted to be. Until Orlando can figure that out they are definitely going nowhere. But lets look at their team. This is a team that drafted consecutive College Players of the Year in Jameer Nelson and JJ Redick and refuse to use them in the right way. What is the one thing that JJ Redick can do to help this team? Shoot the shit out of the ball. Why do they not pass him the ball? Why do they not set screens for him? Why isn’t a guy like Jameer Nelson in a fast-paced offense? Why are there reins on Carlos Arroyo? Another problem with the Magic is that the one guy they have, they don’t even want to throw him the ball in the post sometimes. This is a team full of non-playmakers who think they can make plays. Turkoglu..he’s not a big-time playmaker but he tries to me. As good as Rashard Lewis is, he is not a primary guy. He’s a great second or third guy, but not a primary guy. Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Money. Rashard Lewis and Keyon Dooling. Not so much.

Orlando got trapped into what is trapping many of the teams in the Eastern Conference. They all think they are one move away from being in the playoffs. If you look at the moves, an East coast team has been prominently involved trying to get a big time player from the West to make a move up. This was Orlando’s turn and they botched it. They still have the same problems, except now they have a guy on a big contract who isn’t going to be able to take them to the next level.

To Rashard Lewis…it was a good business move by getting a team to give you max-money. Applauded. But in Seattle he was making 12M. He is getting a 3M dollar raise to play for a decent team at best. Instead of playing with Kevin Durant or possibly T-Mac and Yao, he is taking the money and Dwight Howard. What is going to happen in 5-6 years when he is 33 and looking for a ring? I am telling you, he is going to regret this move later in his career. His life on the court is about to get a whole lot harder. When guys make moves to try and prove that they can be ‘the man’ it usually doesn’t turn out to well. Rashard should just ask Kobe.

And don’t you dare bring up Nocioni.
