Let me kick this off by saying aren’t we all glad the lockout is more or less over? I know that I am. It means no more speculating about what the months of January and February will be like with only hockey in season. It means those really dedicated bloggers won’t have to resort to finding an actually interesting way to recap simulated NBA 2K12 games. But it also means that all those speculative issues that were raised at the end of 2010-11 are no longer strictly hypothetical. I’ve been waiting for awhile to write anything more about the lockout. I could rationalize my lack of productivity in a couple of ways. First, I don’t know anything that everybody else doesn’t also know. I have no sources, I have no real connections to NBA players, and can’t get any inside scoops. All I’ve been able to do over the last 140+ days of zero NBA is regurgitate/analyze stuff being put out there by the hard working dudes that have been staked out in New York and Los Angeles hotels following the never-ending stream of non-starter labor negotiations. Last night was a fun distraction. There’s now an offer on the table, and it looks like the players aren’t even willing to entertain it. So that’s pretty depressing. But have no fear, basketball fans of Portland, there are some things happening this very day that might make you feel a little less depressed.
