Watch to watch for during Trail Blazers summer league #2: Other recent draft picks

Although Sharpe and Henderson are clearly the main attractions for the team’s summer league roster, they aren’t the only recent Portland draft picks that will be lacing up in Las Vegas. There are a handful of players that the Trail Blazers will be eager to see in a game setting who could earn themselves major minutes this season.

Kris Murray and Rayan Rupert were the team’s other draft picks this year, each filling a slightly different niche on the roster. While Rupert is a raw defensive prospect with great length and instincts, Murray is more of a scorer with a polished arsenal that should see him rack up big numbers at summer league this year:

From the 2022 draft class, Jabari Walker is eager to prove that his solid rookie year performance wasn’t a fluke but is more emblematic of what he can do at the NBA level. The same goes for both John Butler Jr. and Ibou Badji, each of whom barely played for the team or had injury issues that kept them from developing at the rate that would’ve let them play major minutes as bigs last year.

It’s unlikely that all of these players will ball out in summer league for the Blazers, but the chance to see even a few of these forwards and bigs step up and establish themselves as future rotation pieces for the team is an exciting prospect for fans.
