Steals per game – Robert Covington

Robert Covington is not only the best help defender on this Blazer team, he is one of the best in the entire league.

Three and D play on the wing is one of the most important skills in the NBA, and Covington is a true specialist. Though he may not lock oppositions forwards up when defending one on one, his help instincts are excellent. Covington thrives as a forward who can jump passing lanes, run to double opposition players, and create havoc at the rim.

Covington is so good at forcing turnovers, that his steal rate has sat in the top 15 percent of his position for seven straight seasons. At the career average of 1.6 steals per game as well, he forces more turnovers than any of his Blazer teammates.

Covington will still be the Blazers power forward starter this season, and will likely grab at least 1.5 steals. He may not have as much of a defensive load with a better defensive roster and coach this season, so he can continue to use his help prowess to make defensive plays for this team.
