This is the first of Boston’s three first-round picks. They could even have four first-rounders depending on Memphis’s finish; that pick is top eight protected. I definitely do not anticipate the Celtics keeping all these picks. Danny Ainge will certainly try to include them in his offer for Anthony Davis or he could try and package them to move up. The Celtics already have a deep roster, so adding several rookies to the fold may not be ideal.
In this scenario, the Celtics take Tre Jones. Terry Rozier and Kyrie Irving are both set to hit free agency this summer and it is highly unlikely that both stick around.
Tre Jones is a smart basketball player who could come off the bench from day one. He can run an offense with ease and is a good passer. He can also attack the basket and is a skilled finisher in the paint.
However, Jones has limited upside due to his lack of elite athleticism and poor three-point shooting (26.9%).
