The Atlanta Hawks will receive this pick from the Dallas Mavericks as part of the Trae Young Luka Doncic swap from last year’s draft.

This is what I wrote about Sekou Doumbouya in my previous mock draft:

"Doumbouya is the most intriguing prospect in the 2019 draft. There is nothing that he cannot be. He has size (6’9″), speed, ball handling ability, defensive instincts, athleticism, and a nice looking jump shot.  He can play on the wing or inside and can guard any position. However, there is no guarantee that he puts it all together. His statistics in France are far from impressive (5.2 points per game). He looked good in international competition averaging 17.8 points per game, but that was also two years ago. Doumbouya could be literally anything and that is either what is going to appeal to teams or scare them off."

About a month later, that is still true. His scoring average has raised to 5.4 points per game from 5.2 points, but there are still more questions surrounding him than answers. He could be anywhere from 5-30 on team’s big boards, and his pre-draft workouts should have a huge impact on his draft stock.

The Hawks might be more inclined to roll the dice on Doumbouya, because they have two picks in the lottery. They are not in any hurry to compete and could be patient with Doumbouya’s development. Outside of second year standout John Collins, the front office is not committed to any prospect in the frontcourt and Doumbouya certainly has tempting upside.
