Bol Bol’s draft stock took a hit after he suffered a season-ending foot injury, so the Minnesota Timberwolves could get a great value here. The Timberwolves already have a roster with several capable starters and role players such as Robert Covington, Derrick Rose, Jeff Teague, Dario Saric, and Taj Gibson. Landing another superstar is the only move that could put this team over the top in the loaded Western Conference and the draft is the front office’s best shot at accomplishing that. Sure, they already have Karl-Anthony Towns, but no other prospect on the board offers Bol’s upside.
Bol was in the mix to be selected in the top five. His measurements are off the charts; he stands at 7′ 2″ and has a 7′ 8″ wingspan. On the court, he was even more impressive putting up averages of 21 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks while shooting 52% from three and 56.1% from the field. At age 19, Bol has unlimited upside.
If Bol plays well, the Timberwolves could even play him alongside Towns for stretches similar to the Pelicans pairing DeMarcus Cousins with Anthony Davis. Bol and Towns both have size, speed, and perimeter skills. One thing is for certain, the Timberwolves would have more talent on their roster.
