The all-time Blazers record for wins in a row started on March 20, 1991, and lasted almost a month (until April 19).

The streak began with a 100-96 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Porter (28 points, six assists, six rebounds) and Drexler (triple double: 20 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) led the way for Portland.

Over the course of the next month, the Blazers would beat up on titans: the Lakers (twice), the Rockets (twice) and the Spurs, as well as the rival Seattle Supersonics (also twice, including one game that took place in Tacoma and featured a 24-point comeback by Portland).

Portland was on its way to a 17th win in a row, but they lost to the talented Phoenix Suns on the final day of the season. Otherwise they would have bookended their NBA year with two massive winning streaks.

Of course, I’m pretty sure the members of that ’90-’91 squad would trade those winning streaks for an NBA title. But life is cruel — as are the NBA playoffs.
