Exploit the Slow Start by the Rockets

Things are off to a rocky start in Houston this season. The underachieving Rockets saw their head coach (Kevin McHale) get the boot already, and their GM (Daryl Morey) is certainly in hot water. A nervous GM is a desperate GM, so it will be up to the rest of the league to capitalize.

The Rockets are a team built to win now. They are already feeling the pressure of Dwight Howard‘s pending free agency, so expect them to try anything to shake up their subpar play. They might be willing to over compensate for cap flexibility, or someone to help simplify their roster.

Portland could look to take on salary cap in the form of a veteran contract. The Rockets could throw in a young piece (Terrence Jones or K.J. McDaniels), or a future draft pick in return for the salary dump. Adding future trade assets will be crucial for the Trail Blazers if they are to make a splash at the deadline.
