After a tremendous, exciting season, the off-season is sadly underway for the Portland Trail Blazers. As the NBA Playoffs continue, the Trail Blazers have some work to do. They will face free agency in search of players to build their depth. Last season, the Trail Blazers went all-in and acquired Mo Williams, Dorell Wright, and Earl Watson. All three players contributed to the success of this season and deserve our applause. What will the Trail Blazers do this year with majority of their roster still under contract? Nicolas Batum may have a suggestion.
The summer months are a time where young players tend to stick around and participate in summer activities including the NBA Summer League. The veterans on the roster take the summer to relax and recuperate from a long, grinding season. Batum left U.S. soil on Wednesday to return to his home country of France. If you are anything like me, you enjoy having a player from a foreign country on the roster, as they provide so much culture and their broken English can be somewhat comical on occasion.
Batum can be found tweeting in French and English. While I have to use Google Translate to find out what he is talking about in French, their are some things that transcend dialect barriers. Yesterday, Batum posted this video where he is playing one on one with his dog:
Sign that dog up! The Trail Blazers could use another lock-down defender. Batum must have taught the dog a thing or two about defense. As I scroll through the comments on the video, I can’t help but laugh at some. Many of the comments indicate that the dog’s defense is better than James Harden‘s defense. I’d have to agree.
