Portlandia: Trail Blazers Featured in Next Episode (Sneak Peek)

A new episode of the popular IFC comedy series “Portlandia” will air on Thursday night at 10:00 p.m. featuring LaMarcus Aldridge, Damian Lillard, Robin Lopez, C.J. McCollum, Thomas Robinson, Paul Allen, and the Blazer Dancers in one of its sketches. Aldridge appeared in the recurring “feminist bookstore” sketch in 2012, so this will be a return visit for the All-Star power forward.

If you are unfamiliar with the show, it is sketch-based comedic series about Portland life in which actors Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein portray various stereotypes of our great city. Most episodes feature a guest star or two from other quirky comedies. Portlandia has experienced wild success extending far beyond the Pacific Northwest. I guess the Rose City has developed somewhat of a hipster reputation.

According to the IFC website, Thursday’s skit will once again feature Armisen and Brownstein in their feminist bookstore characters (Toni and Candace) as they “show the Portland Trail Blazers’ dance team a thing or two.” Perhaps the Blazer Dancers will have some new moves to wow us with as Portland hosts Sacramento tonight in the Moda Center.

While the Trail Blazers and their dance team are exciting the fans live, Portlandia will take over the Trail Blazers twitter account—during halftime at least. Trail Blazers beat writer Casey Hodahl reports that the Trail Blazers will reciprocally take over the Portlandia twitter account when the episode airs on Thursday. The comfortable relationship between the actors and the team may be the most Portland thing about all of this.

Armisen and Brownstein are fans of the team in real life and have been known to attend the occasional home game. If you do the same, then you may be familiar with the mini-sketch that runs on the jumbotron during warm-ups in which the duo cautions against rowdy behavior. A wigged Armisen’s soul-piercing gaze is all the crowd control needed on most nights.

Tune in to watch the Trail Blazers battle the Kings tonight at 7:00 p.m. and make sure to check out Portlandia at 10:00 p.m. on IFC this Thursday if you’d like to see their lighter side as well. Enjoy this sneak peek in the meantime:
