Portland Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams has been granted indefinite leave by the team to be with his ailing sister. She has been hospitalized for the past several days with an undisclosed life-threatening illness. According to the Trail Blazers Public Relations Twitter account, early reports that she had died were fraudulent, and it is apparent that she is still fighting based on a tweet from Mo Williams.
A media report citing the death of his sister was inaccurate. No other information will be released.

It has been a difficult year for the Williams family. Mo Williams left the team on December 14th to attend his uncle’s funeral. Our thoughts go out to him and his family, hoping that a second funeral will be out of the question. Williams will miss tonight’s matchup with the league-leading Indiana Pacers and remains unlikely to return for tomorrow’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Take as much time as you need, Mo.
