Just one day after exchanging Luol Deng for Andrew Bynum and three draft picks from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls have waived the once dominant center. No breaths were gasped, nor eyebrows raised. With Derrick Rose out for the season and an amnesty pending for Carlos Boozer, the Bulls have entered full rebuild mode. Sorry, Thibadeau. Deng had a great run with the Bulls (4th highest scorer in franchise history), but there’s precious cap space to be had.

So what happens to Andrew Bynum now? He’s a free agent center only two seasons removed from the “best big in the league” discussion. Even the Bynum shell we’ve witnessed this year has better post moves than most NBA fives. He’s lost a step, sure, and his durability is suspect, but there will be teams out there willing to take a chance on him for cheap. It’s a salvage mission at this point. Which teams will look past his problems (attitude among them) and roll the dice?
