CJ McCollum Cleared for 3-0n-3 Practice

On Wednesday CJ McCollum underwent a CT scan to determine where he was in his recovery from a broken left foot. The full results have not yet been made available, but the Trail Blazers have cleared him for 3-on-3 practice. This is a huge leap in the right direction. However; the Trail Blazers did not offer a timetable for his return, even though his health is becoming less of a question mark.

The most likely reason that they are playing so close to the chest is that they don’t know when they will need him. A 100% healthy CJ McCollum does not necessarily mean an activated CJ McCollum. Summer league not withstanding, McCollum has not actually played basketball since January (almost an entire year). With that in mind, it’s possible, if not likely, that he will spend time knocking the rust off with the Idaho Stampede before his successes and failures will directly impact Portland’s record.
